This project contributes to a more sustainable future by reducing the power use and energy consumption of the Viaduct Harbour custom indirect public lighting installation by more than 60% (47,650.00 KW/h pa).
Project Description
Auckland Transport (AT) inherited the lighting from Waterfront Auckland. AT considered the lighting to be sub-standard with respect to everyday use, maintenance costs and lighting quality. AT asked LDP to review and propose a solution.
A focus on efficiency
LDP used existing custom indirect public lighting on selected public roads to gauge the general lit condition, take illuminance readings and propose a LED replacement to improve overall energy efficiency (energy savings of up to 60%), reduce energy use, light pollution, maintenance costs and improve light quality, in order to increase road users’ safety. This solution also encourages patronage by improving light quality and therefore discouraging crime.
This project contributes to a more sustainable future by reducing the power use and energy consumption of the Viaduct Harbour custom indirect public lighting installation by more than 60% (47,650.00 KW/h pa) and reducing light pollution. It was also designed to reduced maintenance needs lowering CO2 emissions from maintenance vehicles. Energy savings reduce CO2 by 6.13 Tonnes.
