LDP has undertaken Lighting Peer Reviews on behalf of Council for numerous Resource Consent applications; Sports fields, Stadia, car parks, commercial developments, pathways, roads, petrol stations, Marinas, Auckland Harbour Bridge Skypath, signs, digital billboards, etc.
LDP has prepared an Assessment of Environmental Effects (AEE) and associated obtrusive lighting calculations, to support the applicant’s Resource Consent application, for numerous outdoor lighting installations; Sports fields, Stadia, car parks, commercial developments, pathways, roads (typically for a Notice of Requirement [NoR], petrol stations, Marinas, signs, digital billboards, etc.

Waitakere Stadium, Auckland
Proposed Dark Sky Park (DSP) Application, Waiheke Island
Liaise with the International Dark Sky Association (IDA), Auckland Council and the Waiheke Local Board to determine the feasibility of establishing a DSP. Draft the Lighting Management Plan and review with the IDA in preparation for the application (Current project).
Proposed Prison Expansion, Waikeria
Analyse potential effects of lighting at night. Peer review the applicants AEE and lighting concept design. Expert conferencing. Expert advice to Council during the Environment Court hearing.
Kennedy Point Marina, Waiheke Island
Sensitive lighting concept design to minimise effects. Expert advice to the applicant for the Resource Consent application, Appeal hearing and the successful Environment Court hearing.
Proposed private residence and stargazing lodge, Lake Pukaki
Site visit to analyse potential visibility of proposed artificial lighting in an intrinsically dark environment, when viewed from state highway 80 on the western side of the lake. Design an innovative method of concealment.
Hydroelectric Drainage Canal Refurbishment, Tekapo
Site visit to analyse potential effects of night works close to Mt John Observatory and the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. Advise best practice lighting to minimise effects in support of the Resource Consent application.
Americas Cup AC36 Base
Review the AEE, the site, the local environment and the proposed construction methodology. Liaise with the constructor to develop a Construction Lighting Management Plan as a condition of Resource Consent.
Auckland Unitary Plan
Provide expert advice to Council for Lighting and Signage related lighting effects from Digital Billboards. Draft Policies, Objectives and Rules. Review submissions, expert witness conferencing and advice during hearings. Prepare custom Lighting conditions for Major Recreation Facilities.
