Coastlands Aquatic Centre, Kapiti Coast, New Zealand
Aquatic Centres demand a special skill set, reinforced by experience, to ensure that all equipment is appropriately selected during design to mitigate the corrosive effects of heated humid chlorinated air and water. Electrical safety is particular concern due to step potential and exposed metal parts. Also, care is required when penetrating the vapour barrier to avoid introducing corrosive elements to the building structure. LDP utilised its extensive experience in this highly specialised field and were responsible for the design and observation of all the electrical services, including power, lighting, security & communications.
Alpine Aqualand, Queenstown
This project encompassed most of the primary elements of lighting design challenges within a single space – technical performance, visual enhancement and creative effects.
The client wanted a lighting solution to enhance patrons’ enjoyment of the facility while providing a safe environment using equipment suited to the corrosive pool air. The solution needed to be cost effective, energy efficient and suited to the long term owner.
