More of our work
We have worked on a wide variety of projects across a range of industries.
Long Bay Beach Road Extension
Commonwealth Games Velodrome
LDP’s personnel were integral in the electrical and illumination services design, specification, and supervision of this world-class cycling training & competition facility. The design met the rigorous UCI standards, incorporating TV broadcast lighting requirements.
Coastlands Aquatic Centre
Aquatic Centres require specialised expertise to ensure all equipment is carefully selected to withstand the corrosive effects of heated, humid, chlorinated air and water. Electrical safety is critical, particularly concerning step potential and exposed metal components. Additionally, penetrating the vapour barrier demands precision to prevent corrosion in the building structure. Drawing on extensive experience in this field, LDP managed the design and oversight of all electrical services, including power, lighting, security, and communications.
Salmiya Park, Kuwait
LDP provided lighting design and specifications to support a variety of sporting codes for this new complex.
Waitakere Stadium, Auckland
LDP was appointed to provide expert advice for the notified Resource Consent hearing and the performance lighting specification, assist with technical tender analyses, and review the installation for Resource Consent compliance.
Lowe Walker Stadium (Okara Park), Whangarei
LDP was appointed to review the proposed sports lighting following complaints from residents on glare. Our recommendations were adopted, resulting in improved playing and spectator conditions and significant reductions in spill light and glare to the local residents.
Eden Park, Auckland
LDP were appointed by Auckland City Council to review the proposed lighting at Eden Park.
Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland
LDP was engaged to review tenders after the stadium management had received widely varying prices from interested parties. Our assistance provided the stadium management with a solution that met their budget whilst meeting a very tight programme in time for the first NRL game against the Brisbane Broncos. We were subsequently appointed to design the lighting for the adjoining No 2 Athletic stadium (for non-televised use).
Rugby Park, New Plymouth
Following complaints from surrounding residents about the initial lighting installed at the stadium, LDP was asked to review the proposed upgrade of lighting and provide design advice. This resulted in innovatively extending the height of the lighting head frames on the existing columns, in conjunction with utilising the new grandstand, which produced a superior performance and virtually eliminated spill light for the nearby residents.
Rugby Stadium, Hamilton
Immediately following on from the successful review of the cricket stadium lighting, we were asked to review the Rugby stadium, which at the time was well advanced in construction. Working with the architect and the lighting supplier, we went through a considerable re-aiming and potential shielding process to resolve the issues of low illuminance at the in-goal areas and high spill light to surrounding residential areas. Although a compromise due to the limitations of the construction, the revised design layout has provided a workable solution with improved light at the in-goal areas and reduced spill light to surrounding areas.
Internationally Recognised
Our philosophy of considering every possible option and taking a long-term view to optimise the outcome ensures every design will be safe, long-lasting and energy efficient, both for the end user and the environment. This not only has massive benefits for our clients it is an approach that is well recognised and acknowledged by our industry peers as well.
